About Us
Experts in Axe Handles
Smedbergs is located in the small town of Rydaholm, situated between Värnamo and Växjö in Småland.
We manufacture tool handles, with a primary focus on axe handles. 98% of the handles we produce are axe handles. Approximately 1,500 handles made from hickory wood are manufactured each day.
Our largest customers are Hultafors, Gränsfors Bruk, and Wetterlings.

Our History
Smedbergs’ history began as early as 1910, when the founder, Enoc Algot Carlsson (born in 1885 in Berga outside Ljungby), borrowed 1,000 SEK from relatives in order to purchase a combined wheel machine for manufacturing wagon wheels.
During the first decades, Enoc’s business was successful primarily due to wagon wheel production, but handle manufacturing had been present in the background since the company’s inception.
In the 1930s, the focus gradually shifted more toward handles, and during this time all kinds of tool handles were produced. However, it was not until the 1950s and 60s that handle manufacturing became the company’s core business.
